Saturday, on National Make a Difference Day, City Year New Orleans engaged over 100 volunteers at the Vietnamese Initiatives in Economic Trainings (VIET) center in New Orleans East to build the ecological education center.  We built a bridge, planted 120 trees, painted two murals, and revitalized a community garden.

For a firsthand account of what it was like to volunteer on National Make a Difference Day check out Audrey June Davidson’s post on the NOLA Defender.

The Times Picayune also covered the event.  The article includes candid quotes from me and a Sarah T. Reed High School student who volunteered.  Check it out here.

Finally, check out Laura Slotkoff’s amazing photos of the day here.
